Primavera in anticipo is the Italian version of the album that was released on November 14, 2008. Primavera anticipada is the Spanish edition released for the hispanophone market on November 11, 2008. It was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards 2009 for Record of the Year and won Best Female Pop Vocal Album. With the sales in Europe, U.S and Latin America the album has sold around 2,000,000 copies.

The album is Laura Pausini's first album of new material since her 2004 album Resta in ascolto. Primavera in Anticipo is Laura Pausini's first album in her career where she wrote every song on the album. The album is Pausini's most personal album to date, and the one in which she has collaborated the most in the songwriting, including on the title track, which she sings with English singer James Blunt. The Brazilian and Portuguese version of the album contains the version in Portuguese instead, entitled Agora Não. The album contains 14 tracks of unpublished songs, with collaboration from Nicholas Agliardi, Khufu, Paul Charter and Daniel Vuletic.

The first single from the album "Invece no" was released on October 22, 2008. Pausini wrote the song with Paolo Carta and Nicolo Agliardi. In an interview, Pausini stated that she wrote the song after her grandmother's death:

The second single "Primavera in anticipo (It Is My Song)" was released January 2, 2009 and is a duet with English singer James Blunt.

Her third single "Un fatto ovvio" was released in April 2009.

The song "Bellisimo Cosí" was used as the theme song of the Brazilian soap-opera Poder Paralelo.

The album debuted at #1 on the Italian FIMI album charts where it stayed for 9 consecutive weeks. The album has sold over 500,000 copies in Italy alone and received 7x Platinum. In Switzerland the album debuted at #4 in the Swiss Music Charts where it sold 35,000+ copies and received Platinum. Both the Italian and Spanish versions of the album were released in three Latin American countries which include Mexico where the Italian version charted at #67 for 2 weeks and the Spanish version debuted at #8 and spent 23 weeks and sold 75,000+ copies receiving Gold.
